About The CarShare Academy

The Carshare Academy was founded by veteran Turo host William Huffhine who built and managed a fleet of vehicles in the Detroit metro area, beginning in 2018. His Turo business was featured in publications such as the Detroit Free Press, Business Insider, and the Turo corporate blog. William became a "go to" person for the public relations team at Turo corporate when media assistance was needed to counter government and airport initiatives that would have done harm to the host community.

William spent 30+ years in the corporate world serving in business development roles for most of the major print and digital media companies around the country, as well as a few smaller, locally owned companies. In the last decade of his career he served in senior level leadership positions before retiring to manage his Turo fleet and build other businesses.

In addition to the four businesses William now owns that serve the CarShare host community, he also works as a Franchise Development Manager for the world's largest travel company. In this role he assists men and women with opening their own travel agency franchises.

The CarShare Academy was founded in the summer of 2021 during the "gold rush" of Turo hosts entering the platform while the country experienced a nationwide rental car shortage. After seeing the great need for coaching and training to help new and aspiring hosts build profitable, All-Star businesses, William formed the CarShare Academy to meet that need.

Since its founding, the CarShare Academy has helped over 1,600 hosts in one way or another, through 1-on-1 coaching, group coaching, online courses, seminars, market research, business intelligence, downloadable tools and resources, and live events around the country.

What sets The CarShare Academy apart from other coaching programs and social media influencers, is that we do not teach short-term hacks, tricks, or plays to get rich quick (which nobody ever does). We are focused on the long-term success of our members, helping them to build Turo businesses that will go the distance, built on sound business, financial,, and ethical principles.

The CarShare Academy is one of four entities in CarShare Nation (currently being incorporated as an LLC in the state of Michigan). 

The other three entities in CarShare Nation are:

• The ClaimShare Cooperative, a risk management company that reimburses members for Turo damage deductibles.

• The Passive Income Ecosystem, a logistics company that coordinates vehicle acquisition, vehicle shipping, and fleet management services in markets across the country, allowing people to build truly passive income streams from the Turo platform.

• CarShare Support Services, a growing network of businesses around the nation that provide goods and services to the hosts in the CarShare industry.
